Glasgow 2014: Opening ceremony will fire starting gun on poverty revolution as Games launch global fundraising for needy kids

GLASGOW 2014’s opening ceremony will fire the starting gun on a revolution in global fundraising for needy kids.

An unprecedented collaboration between organisers and children’s charity Unicef will try to raise millions by reaching out to a telly audience of one billion people.

One-time James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore joined film-maker Lord Puttnam in the city yesterday to reveal the anti-poverty plan.

The link-up will see viewers and people in the stadium able to donate to Unicef by text message.
